Gaurav Joshi is a Postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Richard A. Voit, M.D., Ph.D. He completed his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the Department of Haematology and Centre for Stem Cell Research at Christian Medical College, Vellore. His doctoral research focused on unravelling the molecular mechanisms of Fanconi anaemia (FA), where he applied next-generation sequencing (NGS) to identify pathogenic variants and generated patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSCs) clones for disease modelling. He then worked as a short-term postdoctoral bridging fellow at the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (DBT-inStem), Bangalore, where he was involved in generating stable embryonic stem cell lines expressing genes implicated in vascular development. Gaurav holds an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Amity University and a B.Sc. in Biotechnology from HNB Garhwal University. He has been recognized with several awards and fellowships, including the CSIR-UGC and Department of Biotechnology (DBT) Junior Research Fellowships, as well as travel and abstract awards from the DBT and the American Society of Hematology (ASH). In Dr. Voit’s lab he is trying to understand why some mutations in stem cells primarily affect erythroid development.

Outside the lab, Gaurav enjoys watching sitcoms especially The Big Bang Theory and traveling to new places.
